Hi, I'm John

I work as a consultant in AI and marketing, and sometimes as a photographer. It may sound scattered, but it hangs together more than you would think. In both cases it is about seeing things others miss.

I once trained as a TV producer, but quickly realised the internet was more fun. The turning point came at SVT 25 years ago. I was working on Voxpop and saw how viewers actively passed over the computer, the phone and email to send in their vote by SMS instead. That is when I understood the phone would become the first choice for pretty much everything. I then worked with mobile for over ten years, at a communications agency.

In 2015 I changed course. Started Allies, began working as a photographer and speaker, and then Avail STHLM, where I am today. Today I help companies find patterns and answers in their own data: surveys, order forms, email, sales statistics, evaluations nobody has gone through. We use it to see what customers really want, and don't want. Then we build digital solutions that do the right job for them, or for their customers.

At the risk of sounding naive: I am driven by the idea of automating away everything that is uninteresting. I want to spend my time on what I am good at and enjoy, and get better at it. At home and at work. Right now I am reading everything I can find about quantum computers, because they will turn everything upside down, again.

Take encryption: today it is sold on the promise that it would take millions of years to crack. With quantum computers we are talking minutes. IBM claims it can demonstrate quantum advantage over classical computers by the end of 2026.

Now ask yourself what that means for you, and how far you have come with the other things.

Because quantum computing is the internet, mobile telephony and AI all over again. Something to dig into. Or to keep in the back of your mind before the next big decision.
